Collapsible Mobility Scooters – The SureMag Review

TGA Mobility ScooterNo one could argue that mobility scooters aren’t a godsend, allowing people with a mobility-related disability to remain independent as they transport themselves from A – B. Transporting mobility scooters, on the other hand, can be a painful experience, especially if you’ve got a large deluxe machine. Fortunately, many of the modern, lightweight travel mobility scooters provide comfort, safety and support while being able to fold up quickly and easily and stored conveniently out of the way.

We take a look at some of the best folding mobility scooters for adults in the UK.

Luggie

Luggie is perhaps the leading name in folding mobility scooters with a unique mechanism that allows users to fold up their scooters with one hand. The scooters also fold up into small luggage-sized packages that can be wheeled around for easy portability and storability. There are three models.

  • Luggie Folding Mobility Scooter

The Luggie Folding Mobility Scooter doesn’t simply fold away – it folds in several ways, so you have options when it comes to fitting your scooter into very tight spaces, like the boot of a Smart car. It’s so lightweight and portable that you can take your scooter on all types of public transport, including the bus and even air planes. Once it’s folded, it’s no more difficult to carry than luggage with wheels; in fact, it’s the same size. The Luggie’s high-tech battery is the same type that is used in electric cars, so reliable performance is a given. It has a range of 11 – 12 miles, a maximum weight capacity of 250lbs (113kg) and weighs less than 52lbs (23.5kg).

Recommended retail price is £2394.

  • Luggie Elite Folding Mobility Scooter

Luggie Mobility ScooterLuggie’s Elite Folding Mobility Scooter offers all the great features of the standard model but with a little bit extra, such as a greater carrying capacity: 294lbs (133kg). It also has a bigger adjustable seat, a bigger battery and motor and an LED battery display, so you always know how much battery life the scooter has left. Extra safety features include speed control and intelligent braking. The Elite folding scooter also has rear-wheel drive. The bigger size doesn’t even affect the total weight, which remains below 52lbs (23.5kg).

Recommended retail price is £2874.

  • ECO Luggie Folding Mobility Scooter

Released in 2015, the ECO Luggie Folding Mobility Scooter is the new kid on the block. It has exactly the same easy folding mechanism as the other Luggie travel scooters, as well as most of the other features that make Luggie so great. Its eco-friendly lead acid batteries have a range of 8 miles (13km), and it can carry up to 252lbs (114kg). As with the other scooters in this range, it weighs less than 52lbs (23.5kg).
