Optional Extras:
- Puncture Care: covers the cost of tyre repair or replacement caused by accidental or malicious damage. We will also reimburse the UK call-out costs included with this
- Key Cover: covers the cost of replacement keys or locksmith assistance for your scooter, home and car key
- Breakdown Cover and Recovery: to protect you against unexpected breakdowns and provide a recovery vehicle, 24/7 365 days a year. Please note that all of our policies provide cover for breakdown and recovery costs after an insured event, however, without our optional full Breakdown and Recovery extra, you are expected to arrange this yourself
- Extended Warranty: Extended Warranty is designed to extend the warranty period on your scooter, giving you peace of mind should your scooter encounter an electrical or mechanical breakdown. Please note, this add-on is only available for scooters between one and four years old
Important bits to know
It is important to note there is a 7-day waiting period (moratorium) after or from your start date before you are able to make a claim on your mobility scooter insurance policy.

Some frequently asked questions
Do you need insurance for an electric wheelchair?
No, it is not a legal requirement to insure an electric wheelchair.
However, electric wheelchairs can be expensive and are typically relied upon heavily by their users, so taking out insurance is recommended.
Our Wheelchair Insurance covers your electric wheelchair up to the value of £2000, alternatively, our Mobility Scooter Insurance policy covers all powered wheelchairs above the value of £2000 including additional cover for manual wheelchairs.
Should I get powered wheelchair insurance?

What does powered wheelchair insurance cover?
Powered wheelchair insurance protects the policyholder from a number of unforeseen events that could impact their lives or the lives of others.
We understand that the circumstances of our customers are widely varied, and as such, our powered wheelchair insurance was designed with our customers in mind. So whether you hire the wheelchair or own it, it gets damaged by accident or intentionally, or even if you get stuck with a puncture whilst out and about, you can rest assured that our policy has you covered.
What do I need to insure my powered wheelchair?
You will need some form of proof of purchase or ownership.
The documents that we accept as valid proof of purchase are;
- The original manual/documentation that came with the powered wheelchair
- A photo of the powered wheelchair OR
- An invoice from the person/store that you purchased the powered wheelchair from
Does this policy cover multiple wheelchairs?
No. As we insure the wheelchair itself, our policy will only apply to that one insured item.
If someone else uses my wheelchair are they covered?
Yes, we are able to cover multiple wheelchair users as long as they have express permission from the wheelchair owner.
Is my electric wheelchair covered whilst I am on holiday?
This is dependent on the insurance provider which is why it is important to check the wording of any insurance policy to decide if the cover is right for you.
Our powered wheelchair insurance covers your wheelchair when you are abroad for up to 90 days, excluding North America and Canada. This policy will cover you in respect of damage to your powered wheelchair whilst in the possession or control of airport authorities, baggage handlers or whilst on an aircraft.
How long before I can make a claim?
You cannot make a claim within the first 7 days from the policy start date.
Do I need to pay any excess when I claim?
No, this policy has no excess.
I got my wheelchair through the NHS, can this be covered?
Yes, as long as you have some documentation to show that this is from the NHS.
Who do I call if I need to make a claim?
In the event of a claim, you must provide the additional information:
- Scooter Model
- Year of Manufacturer
- Proof of Purchase (see below)
Once you have this information, please call us on 01268 200020, and we will assist you with registering your claim.

Do you provide me with a temporary wheelchair whilst mine is being repaired?
Yes, if your powered wheelchair needs repairing, a temporary replacement will be provided to the policyholder.
Do you cover wheelchairs used for sport?
Unfortunately, we would not cover your wheelchair during sports activities, therefore, we wouldn’t cover a sports wheelchair.
Do I get a renewal reminder for my policy?
We will send you a reminder 30 days prior to your renewal date, we will then give a courtesy call a week before to make sure you are aware of when the policy expires.
Do I have the option to pay for my policy monthly or annually?
Absolutely, we give customers the option to split the cost of their policy and pay monthly or pay for their policy in full, annually.
