If your business provides mobility scooters for hire, Surewise provides tailored insurance to cover rented mobility scooters.
Whether your customers are renting for a few days or an extended period, our mobility scooter hire insurance is designed to keep your customers and the mobility scooter fully protected throughout any rental period.
Why Choose Mobility Scooter Hire Insurance?
Mobility scooters can be a substantial financial commitment, and renting one can be a smart alternative for prospective buyers —especially if they only need a scooter for short-term use or are trying out a scooter before purchasing.
When hiring out mobility scooters, you want the peace of mind that your scooters are covered when they’re in use – so they can go on to the next customer without issue.
- Peace of mind. Hire your scooters knowing that both the machines and the people riding them are covered for unexpected events.
- Protection for your fleet. Avoid absorbing the cost of repair or replacement yourself when a hired-out scooter is damaged or stolen.
- Cover that follows the rider. Third party liability and personal accident cover extend to the person hiring the scooter, not just to your business.
Although mobility scooter insurance is not a legal requirement in the UK, many mobility scooter hire companies may want to have insurance in place for customers as standard.
Having this cover in place protects your hired-out mobility scooter – but it also protects you as a business should something happen to the scooters you rent out.

What’s Included in Surewise Mobility Scooter Hire Insurance
Our mobility scooter hire insurance offers comprehensive cover to protect both you, your customers, and your mobility scooters in various situations:
- Third Party Liability Up to £2 million of financial protection if your business or the person hiring the scooter is held responsible for injury to another person or damage to their property.
- Loss or Damage Cover against accidental damage, vandalism, theft and malicious damage, including damage caused by fire, storm and flooding.
- Replacement For scooters under two years old (three years for accidental damage claims), owned from new, we’ll settle on a new-for-old basis. Older scooters are settled on a like-for-like basis, taking age and condition into account.
- Personal Accident Should an accident result in hospitalisation, you can claim up to £10 per day under personal accident cover.
